Siemens Information and Communication Mobile Network Group have signed a new contract with SabaFon in Yemen, worth eight million euros ($7.8 million), to expand its GSM Network, stated a press release. Yemen has been moving to advance its telecom industry in support of a growing customer base.

Siemens' partnership with SabaFon started in 2000. Since then, Siemens has implemented a full turnkey GSM network in Yemen, including mobile switching centers, base stations systems and microWave systems. Recently, SabaFon announced the first 100,000 subscribers mark and Siemens is already providing additional capacity to cater for 250,000 subscribers.
